This means you will be able to experience the very best of Genoa from OStellin Genova Hostel, by exploring and enjoying the historical center within an easy walking distance to all of Genoa’s main attractions: Via Garibaldi and its museums, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Palazzo Ducale, the second biggest Aquarium in Europe, the old port renovated by Renzo Piano. But mostly, the amazing heart of the old medieval city, made up of tiny streets and alleys (called “caruggi”), hidden cloisters, small churches, charming squares, wonderful UNESCO Heritage Sites such as I Palazzi dei Rolli, and much more. At the OStellin Genova Hostel you’re never more than a 5 minutes walking from all the main transportation links. A shuttle leaves from Piazza de Ferrari (a 2 minutes walk from the hostel), and goes directly to the Genoa airport – it couldn’t be easier! There is a bus stop just across the street, and within 10 minutes it provides connections with both of Genoa’s main railway stations: Genova Brignole and Genova Piazza Principe. Within a few minutes’ walk, there also are a number of public elevators and funicular railways connecting the historic centre with the neighborhoods on the surrounding panoramic hills. The station of the “Ascensore di Castelletto” elevator and the “Funicolare del Righi” funicular both offer astonishing viewpoints where you can experience the city, as well as the port, from above.
OStellin Genova Hostel is housed in a national heritage palace, property of the Fondazione Opere Pie Riunite di Genova and former headquarter of the Ligurian branch of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI ULE). The building can be found in the medieval centre of the city, and the alley where it is situated was probably the original location of a commercial loggia owned by merchants from Parma, hence its name: Vico dei Parmigiani.
OStellin Genova Hostel is located at the piano nobile of a wonderful and characteristic building. Its ceilings include frescos and the apartment is complete with typical Genoese marble floors as well as an original fireplace in the kitchen and large windows: all characteristic features which the guests of the hostel will also recognize in many of the historical palaces of Genoa: impressive landmarks from the city’s glorious past such as Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco, Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Spinola di Pellicceria.
Welcome to OStellin Genova Hostel!
